Windfall Havanese is committed to producing beautiful, structurally correct, well socialized puppies and health, temperament, and soundness of our breeding dogs is always our utmost priority. We are a member of the Havanese Club of America, the Lake Erie Havanese Club, and the Glenbard Obedience Club and follow the code of ethics and health testing guidelines set forth by the HCA. We feel that as a reputable breeder, it is our responsibility to utilize health testing as a tool to make informed breeding decisions, to identify any potential health issues before any breeding takes place, and to ensure that only healthy dogs are used in our breeding program. All of our breeding dogs, and all outside dogs used in our breeding program, have full age appropriate health clearances which include but are not limited to a current CERF exam and the following OFA clearances: BAER hearing, cardiac, patellas, hips, elbows and LCP, as well as full blood workups. Clearances on all of our dogs can be verified on the OFA website.
We are a small show/hobby breeder, which means we only breed when we are looking to add to our breeding program or if we have outside interest in a particular planned breeding. We do not breed for profit or to make a living, for us this is a labor of love and any income generated by our puppy sales is immediately invested back into our breeding program so that we can continue to improve on the health and quality of our dogs. All of our litters are carefully planned to ensure that the dogs selected are a good representation of the breed and conform to the AKC havanese breed standard. We will not use any stud dog, regardless of show record or health testing results, that we do not feel will be a good compliment to our program.
